Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner make tv debut as Big Red Machine
The pair released a collaborative album earlier this year, and brought it to Colbert.
Back in June, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner launched their new PEOPLE collective, a streaming service where a host of their friends and collaborators could share new, fresh music instantly.
One of the main highlights from their streaming service was a new EP from the pair’s own project Big Red Machine, with which they shared a full album back in August.
They’re in the process of playing their first live shows with the project, and stopped by Colbert to make their tv debut.
The pair played ‘Gratitude’ from the debut album, with help from Lisa Hannigan on backing vocals.
Both Bon Iver and The National are set to play next summer’s Mad Cool Festival in Madrid.
Re-visit our top five picks from the PEOPLE website here, and watch Big Red Machine play ‘Gratitude’ on Colbert below.
