Brand New hope new album will come “out this year”

In a new interview with Spanish magazine RockZone, the band open up about their next record’s possible release date.

According to a new, exclusive interview with Brand New, the band are hoping to get a new album “out this year”.

As any fan of the band is aware by now, interviews with the band are hard to come across because, well, quite simply they just don’t do many.

However, it’s now come to light that the group’s Jesse Lacey recently sat down with Spanish magazine RockZone to give what even they admit is their first “interview in a while”. The only catch comes when you realise the entire thing is in Spanish. Duh.

As pointed out on Twitter by Brand New fan account @brandnewrockfan and a helpful Reddit thread, a quick Google Translate offers up a rather interesting point about the band’s next album - the potential follow-up to 2009’s ‘Daisy’.

Addressing a question on the “rumours of a new album”, Lacey apparently says something along the lines of - rough translation at the ready! - “We have a new album to get. There is no secret. The thing is that it is not ready, so to speak. Hopefully it out this year, at least that is our aim. We do not know whether it will be an EP of seven songs or so, or the traditional LP of 14 songs. We have many songs that we’ve been working, but hey, I guess sometimes you have to face what you have steeping a little, as I said before. Is something that we have to adapt, one day seems that we will get and the next we were a little farther out.”

Whether the band will release their fifth album this year is still yet to be confirmed, but they will be returning to the UK and Ireland in September to play a few more shows. There’s that to look forward to, at least.

SEPTEMBER
10 Manchester, Albert Hall
11 London, Alexandra Palace
19 Sheffield, O2 Academy
20 Middlesborough, Empire
