Feels like home:
Broken Social Scene return with soaring new track ‘Halfway Home’
Kevin Drew also gave some details about their new album on SiriusXMU.
So, we could have guessed that Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene were up to something when they announced plans for a full European tour, but now they’ve gone and confirmed it. Ahead of their appearance on the ‘Colbert’ show last night, mastermind Kevin Drew went on SiriusXMU to talk about the progress of their new record (their first since 2010’s ‘Forgiveness Rock Record’), revealing that the new album was finished, currently being mastered, and would be out soon. He also talked about their latest track ‘Halfway Home.’ He told SiriusXMU: “It’s been 17 years together as a band, and you just pick up where you left off. It’s always been that way. We’ve been working on this album on and off for the last year, and we thought that, since we’re an anthemic band, we wanted to bring the celebration with this first song.” And he’s not wrong there! Kicking off with an instruction to “turn it up,” ‘Halfway Home,’ features a soaring, shout-along chorus, squalling guitar riffs and driving drum beats. Listen to ‘Halfway Home’ below.
