Chris Baio of Vampire Weekend shares new solo track ‘Sister of Pearl’
It’s the second preview ahead of Baio’s debut solo album ‘The Names’.
Chris Baio of Vampire Weekend has shared a new track, ‘Sister of Pearl’. The release is the second preview of his debut solo album ‘The Names’. The Vampire Weekend drummer is releasing solo material under the name Baio, and this release follows previous debut cut ‘Brainwash yyrr Face’.
Baio has titled his album ‘The Names’ after the Don DeLillo novel of the same name, and “it’s themes began to take shape when I moved from New York to London in 2013.” Compared to the skittering, uneasy electronic base of ‘Brainwash yyrr Face,’ ‘Sister of Pearl’ is a far more playful, skipping effort, veering between Elvis impersonations and straightforward lyrical pleas with little warning.
‘The Names’ comes out of September 18th via Glassnote. Listen to ‘Sister of Pearl’ below.
