Christine & The Queens hangs above the city in brilliant ‘Girlfriend’ video
It’s the first visual from the new era of Chris.

Christine & The Queens last week returned with new track ‘Girlfriend’ - and a new moniker of Chris, no less - and made all our dreams come true in one fell swoop.
Making good on her promise for “sweatier” sounds, ‘Girlfriend’ deconstructs masculinity and the idea of gender. “I initially set out to smash against macho culture and macho men,” she explained of the track in a press release. “I became obsessed with the idea of this macho man, and still being a woman. What does it mean if I’m this figure, and I’m still a woman? Does it make me an aberration? Is it joyful?”
‘Girlfriend’ now has a brilliant, bright new video, which sees Héloïse Letissier recreating the iconic photo of NYC workmen having lunch while constructing a skyscraper, with some bloody brilliant dance moves thrown in for good measure.
Chris will take ‘Girlfriend’ on a world tour at the end of the year, including extensive UK dates.
