Christine and The Queens returns with four shows

Or should that be Chris…

Christine and The Queens has returned, announcing four live shows towards the end of this year! The French pop ledge is set to play Paris (bien sûr!), London, New York, and Los Angeles in October and November. Such a globetrotter!

Héloïse Letissier has been hinting about some exciting news all week, posting pictures covered with luminous green scribbles on her Instagram account. Those same scribbles also appear on the new poster, crossing out the original moniker, and shortening it to Chris. The subheading reads “girlfriend don’t feel like a girlfriend but lover, damn, I’d be your lover”.

Christine and The Queens released their debut album way back in 2014, before re-releasing an English language version in 2016. It became the biggest selling debut of that year.

It seems likely that there’s a new Christine and The Queens album on the way for a number of reasons - all detailed here in our Get Excited About guide to albums set to land in 2018. And as for the name change to Chris, all will presumably become clear further down the line “feeling like a boy, and sometimes wanting to be desired as a woman, or lurk after someone like a macho man – it’s something I’ve lived,” they told DIY way back in 2016, describing Christine specifically as an outlet for anger. “Christine is basically an excuse to be more daring. It’s a pen name that allows me to say things I wouldn’t normally say, but I still feel. It’s me being more true, and carefree. If I just kept my state, and my poor little ragged body, I wouldn’t do something, but since I’m dreaming, it’s a solution.”

Tickets go on sale on 26th March.
