Circa Waves break out with new single ‘Young Chasers’
Liverpool group’s latest cut of fizzing indie is out this July.
Liverpool newcomers Circa Waves are upping the anti on their fizzing, excitable indie by releasing a new single this July.
‘Young Chasers’ is the Kieran Shudall-led group’s latest cut, building on previous single ‘Stuck in My Teeth’ and the band’s recent NME Tour stint with Royal Blood, Temples and Interpol.
Shudall recently spoke to DIY about the band’s intentions to release a debut album by 2015. “We’ll record it and then stream it live,” joked the frontman, referring to the speed the band tend to work at. He admitted they’ve got some way to go, though. “Because we’ve been so quick, we’ve had no time to build up a fanbase yet.” The plan is to “record it, get that out of the way and then just tour.”
“We’re going to do an indie record and we want to make something sonically interesting. When you listen to Bloc Party’s first album, essentially they’re pop songs and they’re in an incredible sonic surrounding,” he said, citing Paul Epworth’s work with Maximo Park and The Futureheads as further inspirations. “It’s about making it more interesting, not just going straight down the indie line. You’ve got to build an interesting sound for an album.”
