Damien Hurst Donates One-Off Print To Cancer Research Auction
The signed artwork has an estimated value of over £15,000.
Damien Hurst has donated a 6ft by 4ft print to be auctioned off at Cancer Research UK’s Sound & Vision event at Abbey Road Studios on Friday 2 March. The signed artwork has an estimated value of over £15,000, and all funds raised from the auction will go towards Cancer Research UK’s lifesaving work.
The print is from a picture taken and donated by photographer Denis O’Regan of the backing video Hirst commissioned for U2’s 2011 Glastonbury set.
Denis O’Regan comments: ‘This picture of U2 playing in the rain at Glastonbury is special because it shows not only one of rock’s greatest bands but amazing video artwork especially created by artist legend Damien Hirst. I asked Damien to sign the print for Cancer Research UK and he very kindly added doodles of some of his most celebrated icons. We made the effort, now it’s your turn!’
Pre-event commission bids are being accepted; those interested in placing one can contact the Sound & Vision team at Cancer Research UK on 020 3469 8811 or [email protected].
