Damon Albarn, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and afrobeat drummer Tony Allen have revealed the name of their joint project as Rocketjuice And The Moon.
Speaking to The Irish Times, Albarn explained: “Someone in Lagos did the sleeve design and that’s the name he gave it, which suits me because trying to find a name for another band is always tricky.”
The trio will debut material at an Irish date this weekend, joined by 25 other musicians as part of Honest Jon’s Chop, including the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, the Sun Ra Arkestra trumpet player Phil Cohran, the Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, the house producer Theo Parrish, and the South African hip-hop crew M.Anifest.
To date there are no release details for Rocketjuice And The Moon announced.
