Damon Albarn promises new Gorillaz and The Good, the Bad & the Queen material.
There’s also a new The Good, the Bad and the Queen record being written.
Damon Albarn has confirmed that he’s in the process of writing and recording new albums for both Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad & the Queen.
Both projects looked to have been pushed aside slightly to make way for Damon’s solo debut ‘Everyday Robots’, which came out earlier this year.
In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Damon told the Australian newspaper that he’d be getting Gorillaz back together, finding time to record a new The Good, The Bad & The Queen album, while also putting together a West End adaptation of a children’s book, which he’d previously confirmed this summer.
Previously, the prospect of new Gorillaz material seemed slim, with Albarn citing creative difference with Jamie Hewlett. Their last album was 2011’s ‘The Fall’.
The only project he refused to shed further light on was Blur. I would imagine there’s some kind of future, but at the moment there’s no time for the future – only the present. Who knows? I’m reluctant to say anything, because if I do, it just gets taken out of context and then I’m accused of being a wind-up,” he told Andrew Drever.
