David Byrne covers ‘drivers license’ as Olivia Rodrigo celebrates five years of ‘SOUR’
It’s the first in a series of reimagined versions from some of Olivia’s “favourite artists ever”.

Olivia Rodrigo has announced plans to celebrate the fifth anniversary of debut album ‘SOUR’ with a special series of covers, where a handful of “her favourite artists ever” will reimagine some of LP’s best-loved tracks - starting with David Byrne’s take on ‘drivers license’ (obvs).
The pop superstar first teamed up with the music icon back in June last year, when they performed Talking Heads’ ‘Burning Down The House’ together at 2025’s Gov Ball. Now, Byrne has returned the favour with his version of OlRod’s storming single (which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release in 2021, making her 17-year-old self the youngest artist in history to have achieved the feat!).
Taking to Instagram to share the news, Olivia described Byrne as “one of my all-time heroes”, going on to note that “David is nothing short of a legend and I actually cried when I heard his version of this song.”
Riding high off the back of a stellar turn headlining Glasto ‘25 and rounding out her ‘GUTS’ world tour, it seems like 2026 is set to be an even bigger year for Olivia… and rumours of LP3 have been swirling, so watch this space!
