Olivia Rodrigo checks into heartbreak hospital in ‘the cure’ video
Judging from her latest single, the prognosis for ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is, well, sad.

Olivia Rodrigo has continued to amp up anticipation for her forthcoming third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ (due out on 12th June via Geffen Records) with new track ‘the cure’, a heartsore, slow-build ballad that captures the pain of realising that someone else can’t fix you.
In contrast to lead single ‘drop dead’ - a song all about the giddy early days of romance - ‘the cure’ sees Olivia reflect on how love is an insufficient plaster over the wound of internal anxieties and personal insecurity. Speaking on Instagram, she’s described it as “the thesis statement” of the whole record, and has also noted that “it’s my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made”.
Directed by Cat Solen and Jaime Gerin, its accompanying video is equally affecting, with the pop superstar playing the role of a nurse pacing the corridors of a cardboard hospital, on the hunt for an antidote to her heartache.
To celebrate the release of her new LP, Olivia will embark on The Unravelled Tour in September - a massive live run that’s sold out globally, and which will see her play a huge 10-show residency at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, 10 nights at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome, and 11 at London’s O2 Arena.
