DIY Weekly, 12th August 2013 - Out Now Feat. No Age, Washed Out & More

DIY’s smartphone and tablet edition also features Julia Holter & Zola Jesus.

Gracing the front of DIY Weekly’s latest edition is LA punks No Age. They’re here to prove ‘art’ isn’t a dirty word.

New album ‘An Object’ is a showcase of strength, with the duo pushing through the not-so famed ‘difficult album number four complex’ and becoming an even fuller force in the process.

Fellow inventive types Julia Holter and Washed Out also speak about their latest creations. The former goes conceptual and explores new ground with ‘Loud City Song’, while Ernest Greene keeps things fantastical and gets inspired by Disney for second record ‘Paracosm’.

Meanwhile, DIY’s asking if potential new Arcade Fire album name ‘Reflektor’ is actually a Countdown conundrum. We also found time to infiltrate a Sigur Rós interactive video with photos of Ross Kemp (it makes sense when you see it) and in more serious news, Zola Jesus goes physical for her latest ‘Versions’ album.

Liverpudlians Outfit muse on identity and dislocation in discussing their debut ‘Performance’ and Crystal Antlers claim ‘Nothing Is Real’ for their fourth full-length.

In Neu, brave Chicago boys Twin Peaks offer the secret formula to their riotous guitar anthems and how to become one of the most exciting new bands in the planet. Brooklynites Salt Cathedral also provide an exclusive mix to go hand-in-hand with the scatterbrained pop.

There are also enough HAIM puns to keep fans happy until the album’s out. All this, in the new DIY Weekly, available now on iTunes Newstand.

Don’t forget: The price of DIY Weekly issues has been dropped to £1.49. Weeklies over a month old are available for 69p each. All that, plus a free taster edition for cheapskates. Don’t say we’re not treating you.
