DIY Weekly, 28th October 2013 - Feat. Savages, White Denim & More
DIY’s free music weekly also features Lorde, Los Campesinos!, the Mercury Prize & loads more.

On the front of the new DIY Weekly - the free music weekly - is a British band who aren’t staying quiet, despite the title of their debut album demanding otherwise.
Savages’ ‘Silence Yourself’ is a disruptive beast. Their post-punk roars and spoils the scene, and it’s landed them a nod in this year’s Mercury Prize. They speak to DIY about pushing the boundaries of being a band, and how their ethos has stayed resolute from day one.
On the topic of the Mercury Prize, DIY takes a look at every nominee - from favourites Disclosure to outsiders Villagers - and gives its verdict on each act’s chances of picking up the gong this Wednesday (30th October).
Keeping things topical, in News a handful of bands look back on Halloween memories and share their best (and worst) costume ideas.
Probably shunning a Halloween party or two and sticking to the studio are White Denim. They discuss putting in the hours for their latest album ‘Corsicana Lemonade’.
In Neu, the refreshing future-pop of Chela comes under the spotlight and DIY favourites Parlour provide an exclusive mix. There’s also a verdict on enigmatic London ‘collective’ Jungle’s first live shows.
Albums from Los Campesinos!, Gambles & more get the DIY verdict and live-wise, there’s word from the most successful Sŵn Festival to date.
It’s all yours, for exactly zero pence. Grab the issue on iTunes to download the iPad version, or simply read the whole thing on Issuu online, right now.
