Doctrines light a flame on new song ‘Melt’
Track is taken from a new split-release between Dog Knights and Alcopop!
Throughout the week, we’re bringing you all four cuts from an exciting split-release between Dog Knights and Alcopop! Records. On Monday, Johnny Foreigner shunned nostalgia with a new track. Tuesday saw Doe giving two fingers to anyone wanting them to hush down. Today’s the turn of Doctrines, a band getting bored of being bored.
On ‘Melt’ - a song that genuinely does sound like it’s melting down with a Dali-esque closing section - the band grapple with tired habits. “We fall into familiar patterns!” they bark, before giving on about how people “repeat, repeat” their “favourite sounds”. It’s something everyone’s guilty of, but Doctrines are fighting against familiarity.
“It’s about finding yourself stumbling into predestined roles… ” they tell DIY. “Rehashing tired tropes and generally feeling like you’ve got nothing original to offer. It’s also meant to sound like it’s melting at the end.” Glad we’ve got that confirmed, then.
The split-release will be out proper on September 28th. There’s a new Playlounge track out tomorrow - check here for the first play.
