Dutch Uncles bring fun and flair to the Dr. Martens Stand For Something Tour 2015
The Manchester quartet opened this year’s tour with a show at Glasgow’s Nice ‘N’ Sleazy.
Festival season may now be over and autumn may finally be taking hold, but it’s time for the Dr. Martens Stand For Something Tour 2015 to begin and it’s set to be brilliant. Kicking things off with their opening show, Manchester quartet Dutch Uncles are taking on Glasgow’s iconic bar Nice ‘N’ Sleazys and it’s going to provide quite the introduction.
With the room already packed out as hometown lads Schnarff Schnarff take to the stage, it’s clear that this evening is going to be something special. Fellow Glaswegians United Fruit are the second act to hit the stage tonight, and their crunching brand of post-punk feels satisfyingly good. Loud, unabashed and just a little bit mathy for good measure, their set gets the room warmed up and ready for this evening’s headliners.
Returning to Nice ‘N’ Sleazys after last performing here four years ago, Dutch Uncles waste little time in getting into the swing of things. Instantly, the outfit are a slick and funky musical machine, moving with ease through cuts from all four of their records. Highlights come in thick and fast; the Hot Chip-esque ‘Fester’ sees frontman Duncan Wallis pulling some fabulous shapes, while ‘Dressage’ - which received a wonderfully odd makeover during their stripped back in-store set earlier today - is chaotically brilliant.
