Our favourite rapper named after both nobility and a comfortable piece of clothing (move over, Viscount Slippers), Earl Sweatshirt has announced details of a new album.
‘Some Rap Songs’ will be released digitally on 30th November - with a physical version following in January. It follows 2015’s ‘I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside’.
Thematically it touches on the death of Earl’s father, South African poet laureate Keorapetse Kgositsile. “Me and my dad had a relationship that’s not uncommon for people to have with their fathers, which is a non-perfect one,” he says. “Talking to him is symbolic and non-symbolic, but it’s literally closure for my childhood. Not getting to have that moment left me to figure out a lot with my damn self.”
Earl has also shared a new track from the forthcoming release, titled ‘The Mint’, and featuring a guest spot from Navy Blue.
