William Doyle aka East India Youth is responsible for one of 2014’s most head-turning debut albums in ‘Total Strife Forever’. It’s a record that’s been several years in the making, with recording starting over a year and a half ago.

Even before its January release, the London producer was working on material that’d eventually form a follow-up. Speaking to DIY at this year’s Latitude Festival, he confirmed that he’s “three quarters done” with the new LP.

“I finished the first mix of the debut two years ago and I started recording it a year and a half ago. It’s been a long journey, actually bringing it out physically this year. But because of that, I’ve had all that time to chip away at little ideas and bring this whole bank of stuff that’s ready to be worked on,” he explained.

He’s yet to finalise vocal parts and he’s planning on re-writing lyrics, he confirms. There are also plans to bring in more “live elements” to the record. “Everything on the last one is more electronic. I might put some strings on this, give it a bit more depth.”

The follow-up to ‘Total Strife Forever’ is tentatively due out in 2015. Catch up with ‘Dripping Down’ from the Mercury Prize shoe-in (surely!) below.
