Elbow Debut New Song Before 2013 Hiatus

‘Challenge’ is being played on their current UK tour ahead of a ‘gap year’.

Elbow have announced they will be taking a hiatus for 2013.

During the band’s UK tour this week frontman Guy Garvey revealed to the crowd at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena: “We’re taking a gap year.” The band have also premiered a new song this week, reportedly (according to NME) called ‘Challenge’. Have a watch of a fan-filmed video, which calls the track an alternate name, at the bottom of the page.

Speaking to The Sun, back in October, Garvey explained: “We’ve got our arena tour this November and December, which will be like a farewell party. We’ve already done six songs for the next album, then we’ll come back to finish it next year.”

The band’s singer is leading their break to concentrate on the musical adaptation of King Kong, of which he is part of a writing team that includes Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja.

Elbow are currently wrapping up their UK tour and can been seen at the following:
