Ex:Re announces further live shows

The new project of Daughter’s Elena Tonra will play three April shows across Europe.

Ex:Re, the new project of Daughter vocalist Elena Tonra, emerged out of nowhere towards the end of last year with a debut full-length album.

The project was debuted live with a show at London’s Hoxton Hall, and after supporting Ben Howard on a run of January dates at Brixton Academy, the singer has now announced details of three more live gigs.

Ex:Re will play April shows in London, Paris and Brussels, with the UK date taking place at the Union Chapel.

We spoke to Elena about the new project upon the album’s release, and the heartbreak and catharsis of the debut album.

“It was just happening. It wasn’t thought about. I’d set myself the plan of ‘Go in the studio, empty your brain, go home’ and that was what I felt like I needed to do every day. It felt like going into the office. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I kind of thought I was maybe just writing new songs for Daughter, and didn’t really have a plan, then suddenly all these things started coming out and I thought ‘Oh, okay, this is different’.

“It was quite a long writing process for the album. I think if I’d finished the album a year ago, it would be very different - I actually gave myself time to actually get over the thing I was writing about.”
