Fake Laugh unveils ‘Dopey Head’ track from new single
Kamran Khan’s affected bedroom pop is stuffed-to-the-brim with sharp melodies.
For the past year, Kamran Khan’s Fake Laugh project has gradually established itself as one of the UK’s surefire sources of gorgeous bedroom pop. Beginning as an extension of Mac DeMarco’s skittish slacker vibes, it’s since evolved into something teeming with ‘50s pop references and melodies that pierce the surface in a flash.
New single ‘Kinda Girl’/‘Dopey Head’ is out today on Fierce Panda, and we’ve got the first play of the b-side, a prime example of Khan’s affected, emotion-led routine. Simple, stirring from the beginning, it’s as close to a summer breakup anthem as we’re ever going to get around this time of year.
Stream ‘Dopey Head’ below and catch Fake Laugh at a single launch, 31st January at London’s Old Blue Last. He’ll be playing alongside The Black Tambourines, King TV, Sulky Boy and Oscar (DJs).
