Fall Out Boy have eight songs ready for their new album

Pete Wentz let slip the information during a Twitter Q+A, while Patrick Stump is going on The Voice.

Pete Wentz hosted an impromptu Q+A session on his Twitter account last night and divulged the news that Fall Out Boy have eight songs finished for their next record.

When lead single ‘Centuries’ was first aired back in September, Wentz told DIY “We have an album mostly written and about halfway recorded. So my guess would be - and this is realistic, because I feel like when you say shit that is unrealistic people call you out on it - that might be done very early next year.”

Fall Out Boy will premiere another new single on Monday night. On top of this, the band have shared their contribution for the Disney film Big Hero 6, ‘Immortals’.

The bassist also promised something “pretty special for our French fans”, named Patrick Stump the worst driver in the band and hit out at comments about the band’s new pop angle. “We always played pop music,” he states. “Funnily enough, when we played what we thought was hardcore, everyone called it pop.”

The new single can be heard first on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One show, where it will take the Hottest Record slot on Monday night at 7:30pm.

Monday is a busy day for Fall Out Boy. with Patrick Stump also advising Team Adam on US’s The Voice.

Adam Levine, better known as the lead vocalist from Maroon 5, has also recruited Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Taylor Swift to help mentor his hopefuls on the show’s seventh season.

This isn’t Patricks’ debut appearance on The Voice. Fall Out Boy performed ‘My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark’ live on the show last year.

And this isn’t the first time The Voice has recruited a pop-punk figurehead to appear on the series, with Billie Joe Armstrong taking on a similar role in the third season of the singing competition, helping Christina Aguilera.

Below you can watch ‘Centuries’, the lead single from the band’s sixth studio album.
