Intimate show looks to be the first of many for the Foo Fighters this week.

Foo Fighters confirm first club show at Brighton's Concorde 2, tickets sell out in under a minute

After 48 hours of intense speculation, Foo Fighters have confirmed that they’re playing Brighton’s Concorde 2 tomorrow night as The Holy Shits, 10th September, with tickets (priced at £27.50) already sold out.

Fans queued outside the venue from early this morning, 9th September, with the expectation that tickets would be on sale at the venue box office. After being provided with water by staff, they were told to head home and go online to purchase tickets.

Following hints in the early hours of this morning (8th September) that the band would play some small shows while in the country for Sunday’s Invictus Games closing ceremony concert, the band followed up with a tweet featuring a photo of some iconic Brighton Rock, alongside the quote, taken from Queen track ‘Brighton Rock’, “It’s so good to know there’s still a little magic in the air…I’ll weave my spell”

They then confirmed to fans that tickets would be available for the show online.

The Foos are in the country to play the Invictus Games closing ceremony on Sunday (14th September). Other bands on the bill for the event include Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding, Ryan Adams, The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks, Diversity, James Blunt and the Military Wives Choirs.

With a crowd-funded US date planned on September 17th, that suggests any other UK dates would have to come this week.

On Friday (5th September) Foo Fighters started rumours by tweeting “Michael and Freddy think it would be a shame to just do one show while we’re in the UK.”

The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the band’s set up, including a bass drum featuring a photo of Michael Jackson and Freddy Mercury.

Overnight the band posted the message “Sure missed you… now, let’s do 3 club gigs this week…” alongside an image of a UK plug socket.

Foo Fighters are currently preparing for their new album ‘Sonic Highways’, set for release on November 10th via Rosewell Records.

‘Sonic Highways’ was recorded in eight different studios across North America - Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC, and New York - with each city providing a guest musician (eg. Eagles’ Joe Walsh for Los Angeles), and every song being devoted to the city of choice.

There’s also going to be nine different album covers available: one representing each of the eight cities that inspired the record, along with one final piece of artwork, suitably dubbed their ‘forever’ cover.
