Foxygen Difficulties Highlighted By Band Member Elizabeth Fey
Reports of a break-up are quashed but Fey reveals tensions within the band.
on-stage ‘bust-ups’ might not be so staged after all. Touring member of the group - and girlfriend of frontman Sam France - Elizabeth Fey, took to Tumblr to post an extensive piece about being ‘alienated’ from the band, France aside.
Going into various topics including her initial involvement in Foxygen, Fey concluded by stating: ‘Hopefully Sam and [Jonathan] Rado can learn how to compromise and be good friends again.’
The most revealing aspect of her post discusses ‘no friendship at all, just contracts that need to be filled.’
An excerpt from the post also discusses Jonathan Rado’s recently announced solo album:
‘[Rado] came out with a solo album out of nowhere and didn’t even tell Sam about it. He made such a big deal about Sam releasing his album “Star Power” online a year ago and made him take it down but then he goes and releases a solo album behind his back. He was threatened by Sam and I, saying it was, “The Sam and Lizzie show”. Well we are going to start our own band (not saying it is replacing Foxygen). It sickens to me to see how Sam has been walked all over. He isn’t the type of person to plot out things or think about business, he is just a real musician who is an amazing songwriter. I don’t think he was ready for all the craziness that being a popular band gives you.’
Rado’s ‘Law And Order’ is out Stateside on 3rd September via Woodsist.
