Foxygen Perform ‘How Can You Really’ On Letterman
The California duo drop in on Letterman and bring a little star power to live TV.
Last night, Foxygen called into the Late Show with David Letterman to perform ‘How Can You Really’, the brass-laden lead single from 2014’s ‘…And Star Power’. And, as Letterman residencies go, theirs came right out of the top draw. Baring more than a passing resemblance to that Future Islands performance, frontman Sam France, was sporting an extravagant suit and exaggerated collar.
He leads his beefed-up band through an intoxicating rendition of the prog-inspired track, melding together the silky dance moves of Saturday Night Fever-era Travolta with the elastic stage shapes of a speed-driven Iggy Pop with characteristic nonchalance. The lavish-factor is topped off with a row of backing singers and a frightening cool brass ensemble, and the whole performance is nothing short of hypnotic; not to mention extremely worthy of a repeat watch. Samuel T. Herring, be afraid. Be very afraid.
