Genesis Owusu confirms details of third album ‘REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE’

Hot on the heels of the arrival of blistering latest track ‘STAMPEDE’, Genesis Owusu has now officially announced that his third LP, ‘REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE’, will hit shelves on 15th May via OURNESS.

The news comes after a string of singles in recent months - including the electric ‘PIRATE RADIO’ and “DEATH CULT ZOMBIE’ - which have served to steadily amp up anticipation for this next full-length, a follow-up to 2023’s ‘STRUGGLER’.

It promises to be a vibrant, genre-hopping affair, and thematically will take cues from the unignorable global turmoil of recent years. “I started writing this album because I was seeing so much of the world and watching what was happening,” the Ghanaian-Australian multi-hyphenate has said of the record. “I felt like I had something important to say. 

“I was writing this almost for necessity because there were so many people not saying what needed to be said. I feel like I’m a student of Nina Simone, and she said, ‘the purpose of an artist is to reflect the times they live in’.”
