Un, deux, trois, le miroir noir
Geoff Barrow is scoring the new series of Black Mirror
The Portishead man teams up with ‘Ex Machina’ collaborator Ben Salisbury again.

Memory-wiping, extreme reality TV, even a spot of pig-shagging. There isn’t a lot writer Charlie Brooker doesn’t take aim at in his ace episodic drama Black Mirror. It’s therefore Very Good News that the sometimes harrowing but satirical look at the perils of our modern times is now gearing up for a third series.
Beak> and Portishead’s Geoff Barrow has revealed on Twitter that he and Ex Machina collaborator Ben Salisbury were commissioned to soundtrack the new series, which we’ll be able to hear when it comes to Netflix in October. And let’s be honest, their track record pretty much makes them the perfect pair to write music for a dystopian drama.
The duo aren’t short of other work at the minute either. Barrow announced in the same tweet that they’re scoring a new film by Ben Wheatley, Free Fire, the follow-up to last year’s stunning adaptation of JG Ballard’s High Rise. As if that wasn’t enough, they’re also creating the soundtrack to Alex Garland’s new sci-fi flick Annihilation, out some time next year. Busy lads.
