Premiere:
Girls Names hypnotise with their new ‘Reticence’ video
The Irish post-punk quartet have announced a run of early 2016 dates too.
The jagged edges of Girls Names’ hypnotic post-punk are where they truly shine. Bleak and disarming, theirs is a sound which lulls you before striking with a white-hot heat. Their new video for ‘Reticence’ - premiering below on DIY - ups those beguiling tendencies tenfold.
A juxtaposition of harsh, mechanical imagery and more naturalistic clips defines the video, wrapping up ‘Reticence’ in a tripped-out, swirling ode to Girls Names’ duality. “The band were keen to do something which drew on a tension between mechanical movement and the more organic rhythm of human bodies,” explains director Matthew Reed, and as the video finds itself hanging in that balance, it’s a striking accompaniment to the highlight of the band’s latest album, ‘Arms Around A Vision’.
Tying up their year with a nod to the future, Girls Names have also announced a massive run of dates in early 2016. Those are below, along with the first stream of ‘Reticence”s new visual - ‘Arms Around A Vision’ is out now on Tough Love Records.
