Grimes offers up new demo ‘Pretty Dark’
Claire Boucher confirms the track is “not a single lol”.
If you’ve been hankering for some more new music from Grimes, today is your lucky day - Claire Boucher has shared a new demo titled ‘Pretty Dark’.
Uploaded to her YouTube channel, she’s also confirmed that the track is “not a single” and won’t feature on her forthcoming new album. It’s apparently “from an AR musical” that’s she working on.
The track, which comes complete with a filter-tastic clip, was made yesterday as part of a new writing exercise, as she explains: “made the song and video yesterday so obvs majorly rough, but while im finishing my album im just gonna start casually dropping stuff as I see fit. Been doing this exercise where I try to write and produce a whole song in like ~1-2 hrs… fuck technical proficiency and whatnot.”
Her new demo follows on from her recent banger of a single ‘We Appreciate Power’ featuring HANA but as of yet, there are still few details of her follow-up to 2015’s ‘Art Angels’.
Otherwise, she’s recently written the theme tune to new Netflix series Hilda, before teamed up with former Mindless Self Indulgence frontman Jimmy Urine on a track for his new project EURINGER(!), guested on the new Bring Me The Horizon album(!) and released ‘Play Destroy’, a collaboration with Poppy. Not too shabby really.
