Is music the real winner?
Jay Z, Jack White, Alicia Keys & more attempt to explain TIDAL
And nobody’s any the wiser about what’s on that piece of paper.

Last night, every ridiculously famous musician banded together, stood in the same room, and signed a piece of paper - all in the name of high quality music (and probably a few other things that won’t ever be made clear). Alicia Keys, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Jack White, Jason Aldean, J. Cole, Jay Z, Kanye West, Deadmau5, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Usher did everything but actually join arms, and together they pledged their allegiance to… well, we’re not quite sure.
In an attempt to further explain what TIDAL is actually about, and whether it means much (or anything), head honcho Jay Z gave an extensive interview with Billboard. He compared music to water, claimed his $9.99 minimum system was available to everyone, and explained how he managed to get other artists on board, without resorting to Illuminati measures.
Other TIDAL-affiliated artists also chimed in and gave their messages of support, all uniting in the theory that this brave new world is a game-changer, despite not really knowing what it represents.
Here’s a few highlights from the post-TIDAL ripples.
