Julian Casablancas confirms collaboration between The Strokes and Savages

The Strokes are also planning on recording new album material.

Julian Casablancas has stated that The Strokes and Savages’ Jehnny Beth are collaborating on new material.

A feature on Noisey states that Casablancas is “set to duet with singer on a forthcoming song.” The collaboration between the two comes following a series of South American festival dates in 2014, when Casablancas “became friends with the band when they played alongside The Voidz”.

Furthermore, Casablancas also stated that The Strokes are writing material for a follow-up to their 2013 album ‘Comedown Machine’. “It’s the first time we’ve been exclusively writing since Comedown Machine,” he says. “We’re planning on recording stuff. I still think we could do cool things and I’ll do that. I’d like to do both [bands] really if I could.”

Earlier this month, Jehnny Beth of Savages shared a series of track titles for the follow-up to their 2013 debut ‘Silence Yourself’. Read more from the Noisey feature here.

Savages will play Latitude (16th-19th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
