Julian Casablancas shares mixtapes, politics advice on new website
Strokes frontman is sharing information to help with “understanding our current world better.”
The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas has launched a new website, containing nuggets of wisdom on music and world affairs.
Promoting his Julian Casablancas + The Voidz record ‘Tyranny’ - which itself was politically-charged - his website has a section branched ‘Politics’, which includes videos on Martin Luther King Jr., an essay from Noam Chomsky, a documentary on poverty, the controversial ‘Zeitgiest’ doc, and lots more. “Regardless of your leanings, we find this information helpful in understanding our current world better. if it’s not consistent with your opinions that’s fine, just sharing what we think is relevant and perhaps out of mainstream sight,” reads a Matt Bellamy-ish description.
Casablancas is also sharing what he calls ‘Master Mix Tapes’, highlighting music from some of the biggest artists of the past century, including Lou Reed and Bob Marley. “if for some reason you are not very familiar with these artists, here’s a place to start,” he says. “Here are the truly essential ones, without trying to fill any quota of a typical 10/20-song “best of””
