Kanye West hospitalised “for his own health and safety”

Kanye West has been taken into hospital, following a “disturbance call” to emergency services.

The BBC report that a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed a “disturbance call” from an unidentified man, while the fire department continued by responding to a medical incident. “An adult male described as medically stable was taken to an area hospital for further assessment,” said an LAFD spokesperson.

Further details are currently conflicting and sparse. NBC News report that the reponse was to a “medical welfare call… No criminal activity was involved [and] the decision to hospitalize West was for his own health and safety.”

Meanwhile, gossip website TMZ report that West had been seeking care for sleep deprivation, and has been taken to hospital for “psychiatric evaluation.”

The incident follows the cancellation of all his remaining Saint Pablo tour dates - an event which itself follows a troubled week of shows cut short, and a backlash following Kanye’s backing of President-Elect Donald Trump.

Kanye West’s representatives are yet to comment - more as we get it.
