Kate Bush gives rare interview, paying tribute to David Bowie
Icon also spoke about visual art, Tina Turner and why she likes her work “to do the talking.”

Kate Bush has spoken about her admiration of the late, great David Bowie in a rare interview.
The icon - who returned to the stage in 2014 with a residency at the Hammersmith Apollo, London - spoke to The Fader about her musical history, those she’s admired along the way and why she lives a relatively reclusive existence.
Describing David Bowie’s final ‘Blackstar’ album as “beautiful” and “one of the best things he’s ever done”, she addressed the tribute penned following his death. “He was one of my great heroes when I was growing up. He was such a brave artist, so unusual, and I loved his music. I met him a few times; he was really charming and playful. But I just sort of admired what he achieved creatively.”
In the same interview, she spoke to Owen Myers about her lack of interviews (“I ideally like the work to do the talking rather than me”) and Tina Turner (“She was just fantastic, the way she burst on stage”), as well as confirming that she has no new music in the pipeline. “I’m looking forward to being in the space where I can think about what’s next,” she said.
