A fresh take
Katy J Pearson releases new version of ‘Willow’s Song’, featuring Broadside Hacks
The re-recorded cut comes ahead of a forthcoming covers EP.

Today, Katy J Pearson has released a re-recorded version of ‘Willow’s Song’, featuring London-based folk collective Broadside Hacks. Originally by Paul Giovanni and featured on the soundtrack of 1973 cult film The Wicker Man, ‘Willow’s Song’ was first covered by Katy for her acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Sound Of The Morning’.
Speaking about the track, Katy says: “I heard The Wicker Man soundtrack way before I watched the movie. The version I did for the record was a kind of psychedelic/krautrock version, so having the opportunity to work with my friends Broadside Hacks on a traditional cover - which they put together so beautifully - has been really brilliant”.
This new cut comes ahead of an upcoming EP, ‘Katy J Pearson & Friends Present Songs From The Wicker Man’ - a collection of soundtrack covers recorded by the likes of Drug Store Romeos, H. Hawkline, and more, to celebrate the horror film’s 50th anniversary.
‘Katy J Pearson & Friends Present Songs From The Wicker Man’ will be released on CD on 25th September, as part of the 4-disc ‘The Wicker Man 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition’. It’ll then be released digitally via Heavenly Recordings.
