Listen: Future Islands Stream ‘Singles’ Album In Full
Listen to the Baltimore group’s first album on 4AD ahead of its 24th March release.
In the past two weeks, Future Islands have gone from being a respected, prolific, cult-adored band into one of the most talked-about groups on the planet. All because of one performance on David Letterman, in which frontman Samuel T. Herring resembled a drunk and disorderly Jack Nicholson searching around for his keys.
It worked, taking the band to a whole new level. Since then, if online chatter is anything to go by they’ve taken on SXSW Festival and left as the festival’s main talking point.
Their new album - their first on 4AD - comes at a good time then.
A week ahead of its release, the band are streaming ‘Singles’ on NPR.
”Singles’ stays resolute to the unswerving formula that led the band towards 4AD in the first place. The title is either a knowing nod that yes, they’re long gone from self-started days and a debut on Upset The Rhythm. Either that or it’s an acknowledgment that they’ve struck gold on ten concise albeit oddball triumphs,’ says our DIY review of the album, which you can read in the March 2014 magazine in print, online or via the DIY app.
Listen in full to Future Islands’ ‘Singles’ over on NPR.

4 Stars
While the music is a little more inward, more reserved, it still carries all the hallmarks of the signature Future Islands sound.
