Watch Future Islands Send Letterman Crazy With ‘Seasons (Waiting On You)’ Performance

‘Buddy, come on! Hey, thankyou very much. Nice going! How about that?! I’ll take all of that you got! Future Islands! That was wonderful!’

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if Letterman seriously enjoys the band he’s putting on to close a show, but last night’s reaction to a Future Islands was the real deal. Already this rendition of ‘Seasons (Waiting On You)’ looks like one that’ll be remembered for a long time. With a new drummer to back their extraordinary, oddball synth pop, we’re witnessing a band ready to get a whole lot bigger. Their new album ‘Singles’ comes out on 4AD 25th March and every track sounds as big as this one.

Samuel T. Herring couldn’t cut a more passionate figure. On at least a couple of occasions you can actually hear the sound of a fist pumping against his chest. Fire in the eyes, every single word means something, and by the end of the performance he’d have been forgiven for collapsing completely.
