Listen: GEMS Unveil New ‘Medusa’ Single
DC band’s new effort is a swarm of sharp-fanged serpents.

Washington DC’s GEMS have spent the best part of the last twelve months refining their dreamy, escapist sound through impressive singles like ‘Sinking Stone’ and ‘Pegasus’.
‘Medusa’, though? This is a much bigger beast. Everything feels sharper and fit to burst with ideas, although there’s enough smart-witted sparse production to fall back on if things get too swarmed with bubbling excitement.
GEMS are one of the highlights of this year’s CMJ bill - the band play New York’s Brooklyn Bowl (16th), Mercury Lounge (17th) this October.
GEMS, ‘Medusa’.
