Listen: Maximo Park Cover Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade Into You’
Paul Smith and co’s sweet, surprising cover arrives alongside new album ‘Too Much Information’.
new album ‘Too Much Information’ is a record full of surprising turns (as if the minimal, brooding pop of ‘Brain Cells’ wasn’t enough of an indication).
Even more of a curveball is this new cover of Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade Into You’. Easily the California band’s most popular track, the song was initially released in 1994, and it’s taken 20 years for it to receive its long-awaited geordie-tongued cover.
Paul Smith leads the way in a suitably sombre, acoustic rendition. Listen below.
‘Too Much Information’ is available for pre-order here. In the new DIY Weekly, the band discuss a deluxe edition that contains ‘songs that maybe other people wouldn’t necessarily think of when they think of us.’
‘Too Much Information’ is released on 3rd February.
