Listen: Young Fathers Stream New Track, ‘War’
Scottish boundary-pushers go grim on a take from their ‘Dead’ LP.

’ ultra-abrasive take on hip-hop is getting its biggest outing to date with the release of ‘DEAD’, a full-length on Anticon / Big Dada on 4th February 2014.
First came ‘Low’, a semi-rejoicing ode to darkness. ‘War’ continues a trend of monosyllabic titles and Young Fathers’ customary bonkers lyricisms (‘Bang like a Bangladeshi in the Bombay / Bish bosh banging on the calabash’), set against a cutting chorus of ‘This is war / C4’, sung in gorgeous unison. Full of contrasts, it’s a tying together of two extremes.
Pre-order ‘Dead’ on iTunes.
