Neu Pick
Little Cub’s ‘Loveless’ EP finds the Peckham bunch exploring
Reworking their own single into a bunch of new forms, the group’s new release is today’s Neu Pick.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Little Cub.
Peckham popsters Little Cub aren’t too precious. Though the elegant construction of latest single ‘Loveless’ might seem to hint at the trio being ones for agonising over fiddly finesse, they’re not afraid to pick everything apart, either.
The group’s new ‘Loveless’ EP showcases just that. Headed up by ‘Loveless’, the remaining three tracks on the short-player find Little Cub reimagining their own single, exploring tangents and ‘coulda beens’ like few would even dare. “Our aim has always been to make direct pop whilst still managing to incorporate certain elements of dance music,” explains frontman Dominic Gore of the decision. “When you’re developing an idea there are so many places it could go… this EP gave us an excuse to explore some of those possibilities.”
Spin the ‘Loveless’ EP below, and grab it on 12” vinyl here. It comes ahead of a headline show at London’s Electrowerkz tomorrow (15th November), with support from Neu favourite Hudson Scott.
