Lucy Dacus drops new Record Store Day single ‘Planting Tomatoes’
Its charmingly DIY lyric video was filmed in a Tokyo stationery shop.
Lucy Dacus has followed up the release of last year’s ‘Forever Is A Feeling’ LP and her more recent double single ‘Bus Back To Richmond’ / ‘More Than Friends’ with ‘Planting Tomatoes’, a new track that’s arrived on streaming services having initially launched as an exclusive Record Store Day 7” vinyl last weekend.
A scuzzy yet contemplative offering, the single explores the complicated emotions thrown up by the realisation that you’re older than someone you’ve lost, tying together both grief and gratitude over its three and a half minute runtime.
What’s more, Lucy has also recently announced a slew of new North American live dates; she’ll be hitting the road this summer for her largest headline tour to date (for which she’s partnering with The Ally Coalition to donate $1 from each ticket sold to queer and trans youth organisations across North America), alongside festival slots at the likes of Outside Lands and Kilby Block Party.
