Forever delayed
Manic Street Preachers pull out of V Festival Chelmsford
The band will still play tomorrow in Stafford following travel delays.
Manic Street Preachers have pulled out of the Chelmsford leg of V Festival this evening (16th August), citing travel delays following their appearance at Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary.
“With huge regret, Manic Street Preachers announce the cancellation of their scheduled V Festival show in Chelmsford today (August 16th),” the band tweeted. “After 5 hours on runway at Budapest Airport following Sziget Festival last night, MSP were informed the BA plane they were on would not fly.”
“The band made every endeavour to get back to the UK in time to play. The band apologise to their fans at V Chelmsford for the cancellation,” they added. “Manic Street Preachers are playing tomorrow’s V Festival in Stafford.”
While their appearance at V Festival Chelmsford may be cancelled, they will play tomorrow in Stafford (17th August), featuring on a bill headlined by Justin Timberlake, and including Bastille, Kaiser Chiefs, Elbow, Blondie, George Ezra, Janelle Monáe, Foxes, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Dan Croll, amongst others.
The band’s new album ‘Futurology’ is out now. It’s their twelfth full-length, following on from 2013’s ‘Rewind The Film’.
