Mazes Return With Second Album

The band will celebrate the completion of the record with a UK tour.

Mazes have revealed they’ve finished their new album, the follow up to 2011’s ‘A Thousand Heys’.

The band will celebrate the completion with a UK tour that kicks off tomorrow with an appearance at Tramlines Festival.

Their second full-length, it’s currently due for release in November.

In a recent interview with The Whiteboard Project, frontman Jack Cooper says: ‘It’s gone. We’ve finished it. We took the bull by the horns and recorded it ourselves in our rehearsal room and in my flat.

‘I think fans of the first record will dig it, but it’s wildly different sounding. I think people who like our band are generally open to the fact we’re all over the place stylistically. Bands talking about their aesthetic makes me fucking sick and so we don’t have one. I saw Van Dyke Parks the other night and he described what journalists describe as ‘eclectic’ as simply ‘natural’.

‘What I’m saying is we have very, very diverse record collections and to make a garage rock record this time around would be like fielding a football team of goalkeepers.’

You can catch the band on tour over the next few weeks. Details are as follows:

JULY
21 Tramlines Festival, Sheffield
22 Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
23 The Salutation, Manchester
24 Seabright Arms, London
25 Start The Bus, Bristol
27 The Green Door Store, Brighton

AUGUST
18 Beacons Festival, Yorkshire
