Meow The Jewels is here: listen to ‘Oh My Darling Don’t Meow’ now
The first full cut of the long awaited cat-themed remix album is here.
It’s been a great day for stuff that could only be borne of the internet.
Firstly, Ryan Adams dropped a track off his bizarre attempt to remake Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ album. Not to be outdone though, Run The Jewels have now unveiled a track from their long-awaited ‘Meow The Jewels’ remix album.
In case you needed a refresher: ‘Meow The Jewels’ initially started life as a pre-order option for ‘RTJ2’ - for just $40,000, the duo would create a version of the album using entirely cat sounds. Because this is the internet, a Kickstarter was swiftly set up to raise the full $40,000, which it of course did. The duo then confirmed a whole host of guests, an subsequently met the bloke who set up the Kickstarter. They released ‘Meowrly’ via Beats1 in July and now here we are, approaching release and with another new track to whet our appetites.
‘Oh My Darling Don’t Meow’ is, obviously, a remake of ‘RTJ2”s ‘Oh My Darling Don’t Cry’, and features Just Blaze on meowing duty, for some reason. He’s one of a number of guests who appear on the album, including Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, Baauer, The Alchemist and Zola Jesus. Stream it below.
