Merchandise scorch the earth on ‘End Of The Week’, from new album ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’
The 4AD release is due this September.
Floridian noiseniks Merchandise have announced ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’, their second album via 4AD.
It’s being teased by ‘End Of The Week’, signalling a blistering, hardcore-inspired new direction for the Tampa group. Linking up with the previously-unveiled ‘Flower Of Sex’ single, it sees scorched chords drag frontman Carson Cox’s vocal through gravel and dirt like never before.
“We were ‘reborn’ as a rock band for [debut album] ‘After The End’,” explains guitarist Dave Vassalotti in a statement, “and then we straight-up died again. It couldn’t last. The result is this distended corpse responding to you from both sides of the Atlantic, forever singing in spite of everything.” Sounds cheery, then. The tracklisting is suitably bleak, too:
1. Flower Of Sex
2. Crystal Cage
3. Right Back To The Start
4. End Of The Week
5. Lonesome Sound
6. Shadow Of The Truth
7. Silence
8. I Will Not Sleep Here
9. My Dream Is Yours
