Mercury Prize 2015 - Ghostpoet: “It’s nice to be a part of something that’s a celebration of music”

Two-time Mercury Prize nominee Ghostpoet already has an after-party planned for tonight, but the celebrations depend on if he wins for second LP ‘Shedding Skin’.

“I’m a DJ at this after party. It could be really depressing,” he jokes. “If I win, I’d play something by Earth, Wind and Fire. If I lose, it might be something by Nick Cave - as much as I love him. I’d fucking cry.”

Last year, Ghostpoet judged the prize, helping Young Fathers to victory. His involvement in the Mercury Prize runs deep. “It’s nice to be a part of something that’s a celebration of music.”

If he was judging this year, he’d go for the 2015 favourite. “I would pick Benjamin Clementine’s record. I’d love to win it.”
