Morrissey announces new UK show.. something he said would never happen

Morrissey, 2015: “There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows.”

Morrissey, 2016: announces date at Manchester Arena on 20th August.

Never one to mince his words, Morrissey appears to have gone back on his claim that he’ll never play a UK show again, announcing a hometown gig for later in the summer.

The claims were made after his two-night stint at London’s Hammersmith Apollo last year, but something certainly seems to have changed. Silly sausage.

The gig is Morrissey’s first Manchester show since 2012, and one his fans thought may never come.
