Morrissey wins the Bad Sex In Fiction Award

Morrissey’s recent novel ‘List of the Lost’ has taken top prize in a well known book award. One problem; it’s probably not the sort of award the Smiths frontman was hoping for.

Thanks to the “pained frenzy of his bulbous salutation,” and “giggling snowball of full-figured copulation” - which caused a stir from the beginning - Morrissey has been awarded the Bad Sex In Fiction Award. The prize was started in 1993 to “to draw attention to the crude, tasteless, often perfunctory use of redundant passages of sexual description in the modern novel, and to discourage it”

Morrissey, ahem, beat off stiff competition to take top prize, claiming victory ahead of George Pelecanos’ horrific waterslide imagery in The Martini Shot, and Joshua Cohen’s Book Of Numbers.

Bulbous salutations to you, Morrissey. Congrats.
