Mos Def features on new version of Petite Noir’s ‘Till We Ghosts’

Pair collaborate on South African’s breakout track.

Yannick Ilunga’s moniker Petite Noir has shared a new version of track ‘Till We Ghosts’ that features a verse from Yasiin Bey aka. Mos Def.

It’s been known for some time that the pair have been working together after Ilunga shared a photograph of them in the studio back in March. Now living in Cape Town, Bey sought to collaborate with Ilunga after hearing his music and has worked alongside Ilunga in the run up to the debut Petite Noir album.

The original version of ‘Till We Ghosts’ drew controversy earlier in the year after an African music site accused Peace of ripping off the riff for their track ‘Bloodshake’. Ilunga commented, “The thing is that this happens to a lot of African acts but because of the circumstances, they might not find out about it but I think it’s time that we all put our foot down and did something about it.”

Of the new version Ilunga said, “Till We Ghosts was the first track I wrote as Petite Noir and the track that got me found, so it will always mean a lot to me… He [Yasiin] found this song really exciting so we got him on it and he did what he does… it’s pretty special.”

Petite Noir’s new five-track EP, ‘The King Of Anxiety’, is released on January 19th through Domino imprint Double Six. Listen to the new track below:
